As part of a celebration of Barbie's 50th anniversary, an Italian designer has created a Barbie doll wearing a burka. Mattel supports the design. Among the most idiotic justifications for this Barbie is the following: "I know Barbie was something seen as bad before as an image for girls, but in actual fact the message with Barbie for women is you can be whatever you want to be."Oh, really? In Saudi Arabia 15 girls burned to death in their school because the religious police "mutaween" would not allow them to be rescued from a burning school where they were not wearing the traditional garb of oppressed women.
My question for the designer of this doll: "Was she circumcised?" We know that under Islam many women are subjected to this process so that they can be whatever they want to be; just without an orgasm.
